Being part of an RAF family, I moved around a lot during my early years. I studied modern languages in Aberdeen before working in Germany and London and eventually falling into recruitment in 1979. After five years decided to start up my own company and the rest as they say is history. I am still as passionate about recruitment after 36 years and proud to be a Fellow of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals.

I joined Church International in 2003 having gained wide experience in building sales teams and as well as running my own recruitment company. The proudest moment in my career was becoming MD in 2006. I have really enjoyed being part of our growth and success. Outside of work I love any competitive sport - tennis, badminton, golf... and enjoy any challenge which allows me to raise money for the charities I support.

I've been responsible for our Finances and Business Support since Chriss set up the company in 1984 when it was just the two of us doing everything! I've managed to juggle a career in a successful and growing company and bringing up two children... challenging but hugely rewarding. My spare time is spent walking in the wonderful Kent countryside when I'm not chasing around after my three grandchildren.

Simon Long

Sales Manager

Simon first joined Church International in 2014 as a Recruitment Consultant before moving on in 2019 to continue his career in recruitment as a Talent Acquisition Manager. During this time, Simon focused on establishing new internal processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure a smooth and effective selection and onboarding journey. In March 2023, Simon returned to Church International as Sales Manager, an opportunity he was excited to take on. In this role, he is responsible for setting the sales strategy and market focus to secure new clients, developing the skills of the recruitment consultants, and managing revenue performance and targets. Simon also plays a key role in motivating, appraising, and managing the delivery team. As part of the management team, he helps guide the business to align with and deliver on the Executives’ vision. Outside of work, Simon balances family and social commitments with an active sporting life. He is a 5th Dan Ju Jitsu instructor, running weekly classes, and also coaches Maidstone’s Under-15s boys’ rugby team.

Karl Henneker

Head of Governance, Risk & Technology

Karl joined Church International in June 2003, starting out in sales and, in recent years, transitioning into an operational leadership role. Over time, Karl has grown with the business and worked closely with teams across the organisation as it has evolved. Today, his role focuses on governance, risk and technology, helping to ensure we have strong processes, systems and standards in place to support our consultants, clients and candidates. Karl works alongside leadership and operational teams to keep the business running smoothly and delivering a high-quality, professional service. Outside of work, he enjoy's spending time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, hiking whenever he can, and making the most of opportunities to travel.

Carole Taylor

Senior Accounts Administrator

Carole first joined Church International in 2006 as an Administrator before transitioning into the Accounts team in 2008. Since then, she has become a key member of the business, providing essential support across contractor care and financial reporting. Carole’s role is varied and detail-focused, working closely with the leadership and operational teams to ensure processes run efficiently and the business continues to deliver a high-quality, professional service. Her experience and in-depth knowledge of the company play an important part in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations. Outside of work, Carole enjoys cooking, crafting, and spending time with her family.

Zoe Robertson

Head of Marketing Department

Zoe joined Church International in 2021 as the Head of the Marketing Department, bringing with her nearly two decades of marketing experience. With a strong background in PR, Marketing communications, and a track record of successful campaigns in both B2B and B2C settings, she is well-equipped to lead the team. Known for her attention to detail and commitment to excellence, Zoe's passion for digital marketing drives her to generate creative ideas that make an impact. Outside of work, she enjoys Formula 1, traveling, and cooking. But her favourite pastime is spending time with her trusty sidekick, Cooper the Boxer Dog.

Simon Flynn

Head of Talent Development

Simon joined CIL in April 2020 with extensive experience of the recruitment industry as both an internal and recruitment agency recruiter in a wide range of diverse industries. He acts as mentor for all new recruits, is the figurehead for internal recruitment and is responsible for generating and implementing innovative ways to contribute to the growth of the business through effective talent acquisition and development.
