- Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid – 50% onsite / 50% remote).
- Freelance Contract: July 2026 – December 2026 (extension possible).

We are looking for a Senior Responsible AI Consultant / Data Governance Specialist to help shape and implement a strategic Responsible AI framework within a leading international financial services environment.
As the technical expert for Responsible AI, you will provide strategic guidance and practical expertise to ensure AI systems are designed, developed, and governed according to industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and implement a Responsible AI governance framework, including policies, standards, processes and controls.
- Establish best practices covering: AI accountability and ownership, fairness and bias mitigation, explainability and transparency, human oversight, privacy and data governance, AI robustness and safety and environmental and societal impact
- Assess and manage AI-related risks throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Provide expert guidance on Responsible AI, AI governance and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to embed Responsible AI principles into AI solutions.
- Support governance boards and AI risk management processes.
- Act as a trusted advisor, challenging technical decisions and promoting best practices across AI development.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science or AI Governance.
- Hands-on experience developing or governing AI solutions.
- Strong understanding of Responsible AI concepts including fairness, explainability, robustness, bias detection, hallucination risks and human oversight.
- Experience implementing AI governance or AI risk management frameworks.
- Knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR and AI regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of data governance principles and AI lifecycle management.
- Experience working within financial services or another regulated industry is highly desirable.
- Technically strong with a deep understanding of AI technologies.
- Analytical, proactive and solutions-focused.
- Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to senior leadership.
- An excellent communicator who can explain complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Relevant AI, governance, or risk management certifications are highly desirable.
