Our client, a key supplier across multiple NATO frameworks is seeking an experienced Penetration Tester to join a highly skilled cyber security team supporting mission-critical defense and security operations. The role involves leading and contributing to Red/Blue Team activities, conducting advanced penetration testing across web, infrastructure, and applications, and providing expert-level security guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.
This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills.
It also requires the ability to operate in a collaborative, multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and/or participate in Red Team and Blue Team activities during NATO exercises
- Perform penetration testing across: Web applications, IT infrastructure & Networks, and systems
- Conduct security design and architecture reviews aligned with policies and directives
- Provide cyber security consultancy and advisory support to projects and operational units
- Identify vulnerabilities and assess risks across operating systems, applications, protocols, and networks
- Develop and recommend mitigation strategies and remediation plans
- Research, evaluate, and recommend security tools, technologies, and solutions
- Collaborate with configuration control boards, accreditation authorities, internal NATO units supporting accreditation processes
- Prepare and deliver clear technical reports, including executive summaries and detailed findings
- Brief stakeholders at both technical and executive levels, including senior leadership and flag officers
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in penetration testing and cyber security
- Strong experience in: Web application penetration testing, Infrastructure and network penetration testing, Network security architecture design
- In-depth understanding of: Operating systems (UNIX/Linux and Windows), Network protocols and security mechanisms,
- In-depth understanding of Authentication systems and cryptography, Application security principles and Malware techniques and defense mechanisms
- Proven experience identifying vulnerabilities and conducting risk assessments
- Familiarity with penetration testing methodologies and frameworks
- Hands-on experience using penetration testing tools and techniques
- Scripting/programming ability in at least one of the following: Python, Perl, Ruby, or shell scripting (bash/ksh/csh)
- Experience in system and network administration (UNIX and Windows environments)
- Ability to research, evaluate, and apply emerging security technologies
- Ability to produce structured technical documentation and reports for varied audiences
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
- High level of professionalism and discretion
