The trade associationâs latest report, entitled âHow consumers around the world make paymentsâ, is the second in its World Class Payments series. It showed that by the end of 2014, there were more than 12 billion cards in circulation worldwide, with Japan and China distributing the most debit cards per head at 3.30 and 3.28 respectively â compared to 1.48 per head in the UK.
