Venture capitalists ploughed $13.8 billion into the FinTech sector last year, double the $6.8 billion invested worldwide in 2014, according to the latest KPMG and CB Insights report. 2015 also saw the rise of the âmega roundâ â financing deals worth $50 million or more. Between 2011 and 2013, there were fewer than 15 mega rounds in venture-backed FinTech companies, while in 2015 the number soared past 60. Deal activity did slide slightly in the second half of the year, however. Q4 saw just 154 deals made overall, the lowest quarterly total since Q3 2014.
