Our client, a key supplier across multiple NATO frameworks, is seeking an experienced VDI Engineer to work with advanced VDI infrastructure, expanding your expertise in installation, configuration, administration, optimisation, and monitoring.
This is a freelance, on-site position in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium and will require travel across NATO sites, gaining valuable international experience and expanding your professional network.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot VDI infrastructure daily, including virtual desktops, application delivery, and profile management.
- Install, upgrade, and configure VDI instances in compliance with established security policies.
- Monitor performance using DEX tools and optimise the VDI environment.
- Maintain and manage master (“golden”) images.
- Resolve incidents and service requests through the Purchaser’s ticketing system.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain fault tolerance and disaster recovery solutions across the full VDI stack.
- Develop and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
- Provide on-the-job training to team members and Level 1 and Level 2 support technicians.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in VMware Horizon, vSphere, App Volumes, DEM/UEM, and FSLogix.
- Experience with Group Policy Management (GPOs) and Incident Management processes.
- Proven ability to create, maintain, and optimise VDI master images using MDT.
- Solid understanding of secure VDI design and operations.
- ITIL Foundation certification (desirable).
- Valid security clearance (mandatory).
- Legal right to work full-time in Belgium (mandatory).
