As I approach the end of my first year as a Recruitment Consultant with Church International, I found myself reflecting on just how much has changed in such a short time. In July 2019 I joined the company as the Consultant for our Data Chapter, excited by the prospect of learning the intricacies of such a dynamic and constantly evolving niche. From day one Church International Ltd has been a great advocate of the agile mindset, empowering me to work collaboratively to ensure that I deliver the best candidates for my client’s needs. The extensive experience and advice from my colleagues has been invaluable and has provided me with the tools and knowledge I needed to help me get where I am today.
Fast forward to the start of 2020 with Brexit being foremost on the minds of many, the next challenge on my journey was to get to grips with the extension of the off-payroll reforms (IR35), which were originally due to come into place in April this year but was deferred until April 2021. Thanks to all of our preparation for the off-payroll reforms, as a company we were (and remain) in a great place to provide our clients and candidates with a suite of tailor-made options that best suit their needs, thanks to the efforts of our MD Brian Fitzgerald and Head of Compliance & Legal, Lesley Hayes. As a result, I feel confident that we’ll be able to provide a level of service that ensures we can offer a fully compliant solution for all as and when this new legislation comes into force.
And now the world finds itself in a very different situation and we’ve all had to adapt to what is now the “new norm”. I’m sure I can speak for all of the team at Church International Ltd in saying that our MD Brian Fitzgerald and CEO Chriss Andrews have conducted themselves in a truly professional manner in dealing with the issues that have arisen and have supported us across the board with the help from Phil Jennings, our Head of Delivery. Whilst these have been challenging times, the determination of our management team to provide us with the support we need means that we have been able to seamlessly transition ourselves to work from home without compromising the level of service that we offer our clients and candidates.
I’m delighted to say that I am part of a team that is approaching the start of our new financial year with great optimism, having ended it with a number of personal success stories – especially for yours truly, having made a record-breaking placement! I have been working very closely with a global data business organisation and within the last month, I played an integral part in them appointing their new Vice President of New Business. As you can imagine of a role of this seniority, the recruitment process was thorough and successfully conducted entirely remotely.
Phew, what a year it’s been. But as I enter my second year in recruitment and, with Church International, I find myself excited and invigorated by whatever challenges the next few years have in store for me.
