The Office of Tax Simplication recommends the Chancellor to suspend IR35

The REC has reported that The Office of Tax Simplification today published their initial report on small business, taxation including IR35.

Their lead recommendation to the Chancellor is to suspend IR35, to remove the uncertainty it causes for contractors, in advance of a longer-term reform to merge income tax and national insurance payments.

Commenting on the report, REC Chief Executive Kevin Green said:

"We were pleased to be able to contribute the views and experience of our members over the course of this review.  Today's report shows that the OTS has listened to the concerns of agencies and small businesses across the country, and has used this evidence to develop robust proposals for genuine tax simplification."
